Today was not a typical Bible Study day. Why? Because, after the years of teaching Bible Study, I have found there is no typical day.
It does not matter, I can prepare 5 hours or 10, or a quick reading the morning of Bible Study. It is the Holy Spirit who gathers the students, and then I pray His Will be done. People show up. “I’m not a Christian.” I do not ask why they are here, they will tell me in their own time.
The first day I taught, the LORD told me, “take it slow, ask them questions.” If new people are there, I tell them to ask their question, when it is First in their mind, that I do not want to read past their question. To me, it is the question that matters, the reading will happen, at God’s direction, not mine.
Start, read, reply. Back up, reread it, with that answer now given, and read a bit farther; reply, back up, the answer is The Word. The question takes you to The Word.
Until then, it is just reading.
